ALDABEN-DS
ALDABEN-DS (Albendazole) is a preparation which is a broad spectrum anthelmintic. In addtion to its vermicidal properties. Alben has been found to have both ovecidal and larvicidal activities in man.

INDICATIONS

Aldaben-DS is indicated in single and mixed infestation of:

– Pinworm of threadworm

– Whipworm

– Large roundworm

– Hookworm

– Tapeworm

Stronyloides stercoralis

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Adults or children over 2 years of age: 400 mg 1 Aldaben-DS tablet as a single dose. In case of strongyloidiasis 400 mg or 1 Aldaben-DS tablet as a single dose should be given for 3 consecutive days.

If the patient is not cured on follow-up after three weeks, a second course of treatment is indicated. Aldaben-DS tablets may be chewed, swallowed or crushed and mixed with food.

Children under 2 years of age: Not recommended.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Hydatid disease: For Echinococcus granulosus, adult over 60 kg, medical treatment, 800 mg daily in divided doses for 28 days followed by 14 tablet-free days; up to 3 cycles of treatment may be given. Adjunct in surgical treatment, pre-surgery, 800 mg daily in divided dises for 28 days followed by 14 tablet-free days, repeat cycle once before surgery; post-surgery (if viable cysts after pre-surgery treatment, or if no pre-surgery treatment, or if only short pre-surgery course), 800 mg daily in divided dises for 28 days followed by 14 tablet-free days, repeat cycle once.

CONTRAINDICATION

Because Aldaben-DS was found to be embryotoxic and teratogenic in rat and rabit, its use is contraindicated in pregnant women. For women of child bearing age (15-45 years), Aldaben-DS should be administered within 7 days of the start of normal menstruation.

ADVERS REACTIONS

A few cases of gastrointestinal discomfort and headache have been reporter, but no definite relationship with the drug has been shown.

Store in a cool, dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children.

Aldaben-DS Tablet : Box containing 25 strips of tablet. Each tablet contains albendazole USP 400 mg.
