Rostil Plus


1. What is Rostil® Plus?
Rostil® Plus is a combination of two ingredients- Mebeverine Hydrochloride 135 mg & Ispaghula Husk 3.5 gm. This product is used to relieve the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) associated with Constipation.

2. How Rostil® Plus works in our body?
Psyllium Husk is a natural plant material which is high in fibre, it works by increasing the bulk of the contents of the gut passing through the digestive system, helping body to work normally. Mebeverine is an antispasmodic drug which relieves spasms and cramps which occur in the gut and cause pain. So the combination of these two ingredients provides effective relief from the painful spasms and cramps and at the same time will help to restore and maintain bowel regularity.

3. What is the indication of Rostil® Plus?
For the treatment of of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) associated with Constipation and in the treatment of patients requiring a high fibre regime: for example, for the relief of constipation, including constipation in pregnancy and the maintenance of regularity; for the management of bowel function in patients with colostomy, ileostomy, haemorrhoids, anal fissure and ulcerative colitis.

4. What are the dosage & administration of Rostil® Plus?
Adults and children over 12: The usual dosage is: One sachet in the morning and one sachet in the evening. If necessary, an additional sachet may be taken before the midday meal.
Children below 12: Rostil® should not be taken by patients under 12 years.
Stir the contents of a sachet into a glass of cold water (approximately 150 ml) and drink immediately.

It should be taken half an hour before a meal. It must be taken with an adequate amount of liquid, as directed. Blockage of the gut may occur if the granules are not prepared with enough liquid. Do not take it without water.

5. What are the contraindications of Rostil® Plus?
In cases of intestinal paralytic ileus, or faecal impaction and colonic atony such as senile mega colon. Hypersensitivity to Psyllium Husk or Mebeverine or any of the excipients. Natural or drug-induced reduction in gut.

6. What are the adverse effects of Rostil® Plus?
Flatulence and bloating may be experienced during the first few days of but should diminish during continued treatment.

7. What would be the storage condition of Rostil® Plus?
Keep in a dry place, below 30° C. Protect from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
