Rhine
Description
Ranitidine is a histamine H2-receptor antagonist. It is several times potent than cimetidine on the basis of molecular weight. It inhibits gastric acid secretion & the inhibition is competitive & reversible. It inhibits both day time & nocturnal basal gastric acid secretion as well as gastric acid secretion stimulated by food.

Indications
*Treatment of active duodenal ulcer
*Benign gastric ulcer
*Treatment & prevention of ulcer associated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent
*Post operative stress ulcer
*Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
*Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
*Gastrointestinal hemorrhage from stress ulcer in seriously ill patient
*Recurrent hemorrhage in patients with bleeding peptic ulcer
*Before general anesthesia in patient considered to be at risk of acid aspiration particularly obstetric patients
