Description
Mirez (Mirtazapine) is a tetracyclic antidepressant, belonging to the piperazino-azepine group of compounds. Mirtazapine is an antagonist of central alpha2-auto and hetero-adrenoceptors which causes an increase in both noradrenaline and serotonin release. The effect of released serotonin is exerted specificially via 5-HT1 type receptors, because 5-HT2 and 5HT3 type receptors are specially blocked by mirtazapine. Mirtazapine is a moderate antagonist at muscarinic receptors, a property that may explain the relatively low incidence of anticholinergic side effects associated with its use.

Indications
Mirez is indicated for the treatment of major depression disorder, depression with anxiety, depression with insomnia.
