Metra
Indication

· Acute & chronic Amoebic dysentery
· Amoebic abscess in liver and other organs
· Amoebic hepatitis
· Surgical & gynaecological Sepsis
· Trichomonas infetions
· Giardia Iamblia infections
· Anaerobic infections.

Composition:

Metra Tablet-400: Each film coated tablet contains Metronidazole BP 400mg.

Metra Suspension: Each 5ml contains Benzoyl Metronidazole equivalent to Metronidazole BP 200mg.

Dosage:

If not otherwise prescribed by the physician, the following dosages schedule may be followed.

Use in pregnancy:

Metra should be used during pregnancy if clearly needed. It is contraindicated in the first trimester. Use of Metra in the second and third Trimesters should be restricted to those in whom local palliative treatment has been inadequate to control symptoms. Avoid high dose regimens.

Use in lactation:

It is not known whether Metronidazole is secreted in breast milk. So nursing mother should seek the advice of Physician before using Metra.

Contraindication:

Metra is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to metronidazole or other nitromidazole derivatives.

Adverse reaction:

Metallic taste furred tongue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, rashes and mild reversilbe leucopenia may be observed during treatment. It is a relatively safe drug when used in large doses over several months although a few cases of severe peripheral neuropathy have occurred.

Precaution:

Patients with hepatic disorders, Candidiasis and CNS disease should take Metra Cautiously under the supervision of Physician.

Warning:

Alcoholic beverages should not be consumed during and at least one day after using Metra.

Drug Interaction:

Metra should not be administered with warfarin and other anticoagulants, Phenobarbitone and cimetidine.

Packing:

Metra tablet: Box containing 10×10 Tablets in blister pack.
Metra Suspension: Box containing 60mlx24 Bottles with 5ml spoon.
