Presentation
Destin Tablet: Blue, diamond-shaped, film-coated tablet, each tablet contains Desloratadine INN
5 mg.
Destin Syrup: Mixed fruit-flavoured, clear syrup, each 5 ml contains Desloratadine INN 2.5 mg.

Indication
Destin tablets and suspension are indicated in adults for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, nasal discharge and itching and ocular itching and burning. Nasal and ocular signs and symptoms are relieved rapidly after oral administration. Destin is also indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with idiopathic chronic urticaria. In children over one year, Destin suspension is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis and allergic skin conditions such as idiopathic urticaria.

Dosage and administration
Adults, including the elderly, and children 12 years of age and over: Desloratadine 5 mg (one Destin tablet) once daily.
Children aged 6-11 years: Desloratadine 5 ml Destin syrup (2.5 mg) once daily.
Children aged 1-5 years: Desloratadine 2.5 ml Destin syrup (1.25 mg) once daily.
Safety and efficacy of Desloratadine below 1 years has not been established.

Contra-indications, warnings, etc.
Contra-indication: Desloratadine INN is contra-indicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Desloratadine.

Warning and precaution: Destin tablet: Safety and efficacy of Desloratadine tablet below children 12 years has not been established. Destin syrup: Safety and efficacy of Desloratadine tablet below children 1 years has not been established. In case of severe renal insufficiency, Desloratadine should be used with caution.

Drug interaction: No chemically relevant interactions were observed in clinical trials with Desloratadine in which ketoconazole or erythromycin were co administered.

Use in pregnancy and lactation: Desloratadine was not teratogenic in animal studies. The safety of Desloratadine in pregnancy has not been established therefore, Desloratadine is not recommended during pregnancy. Desloratadine is excreted into breast milk therefore, it is not
recommended in breast-feeding women.

Effects on ability to drive and use machines: In clinical trials that assessed the driving ability, no impairment occurred in patients receiving Desloratadine. However, patients should be informed that very rarely some people experience drowsiness, which may affect their ability to drive or use machines.

Side effects: Most common adverse events are fatigue, dry mouth and headache. Rare adverse events are; Psychiatric disorder: hallucinations. Nervous system disorder: dizzines, somnolence, insomnia, psychomotor hyper activity, seizures. Cardiac disorder: tachycardia, palpitation.

Gastrointestinal disorder: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, diarrhoea.

Hepatobiliary disorder: elevation of lever enzyme, increased bilirubin, hepatitis.

Musculo skeletal and connective tissue disorder: myalgia. General disorder: hyper sensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis, angioedema, dyspnoea, pruritus, rash and urticaria.

Overdose: In the event of overdose, treatment which should be started immediately is symptomatic and supportive. The patient should be induced to vomit, even if emesis has occured spontaneously (ipecacunha is preferred method), but not in patients with impaired consciousness. Administration of activated charcoal as a slurry with water may be attempted following emesis. If vomiting is unsuccessful or contra-indicated, gastric lavage should be performed. Desloratadine is not dialisable to any appreciable extent. After emergency treatment, the patient should continue to be under medical supervision.

Pharmaceutical precautions
Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light.

Packaging quantities
Destin tablet : Each box contains 30 tablets in Alu-PVDC blister.
Destin syrup: Each bottle containing 60 ml syrup.
