Astra-Z
Composition
Astra-Z tablet: Each film coated tablet contains Zinc 10 mg ( As Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate USP), Thiamine Hydrochloride (B1) USP 5 mg, Riboflavin (B2) 2 mg (As Riboflavin 5’-Phosphate Sodium USP), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (B6) USP 2 mg, Nicotinamide (B3) USP 20 mg.

Indication
Astra-Z is indicated for the treatment and prevention of zinc and vitamin B Complex deficiencies.

Dosage and Administration

Children under 10 kg: 1 tablet daily after meal or as recommended by the physician.

Children (10-30 kg): 1 tablet 3 times daily after meal or as recommended by the physician.

Adults and children over 30 kg: 1-2 tablets 3 times daily after meal or as recommended by the physician.

Side Effect
Astra-Z is generally well tolerated. However, a few side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach upset may occur. Side effects have been reported with specific vitamins but generally at levels substantially higher than those available in Astra-Z.

Contraindication
It is contraindicated in individual known to be hypersensitive to any of its ingredients.

Drug interaction
Concomitant intake of a tetracycline and zinc may decrease the absorption of both the tetracycline and zinc. Similarly concomitant administration of zinc and quinolone may also decrease the absorption of both. Concomitant intake of penicillamine and zinc may depress absorption of zinc. As little as 5 mg pyridoxine daily can decrease the efficiency of levodopa in the treatment of parkinsonism.

Precaution
In acute renal failure zinc accumulation may occur; so dosage adjustment is needed. It is not intended for treatment of severe specific deficiencies.

Use in pregnancy and lactation
Astra-Z can be used in pregnancy and lactation.

Storage
Store in a cool and dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
