Professor Dr Md Rafiqul Islam completed MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College (DMC) in 1998. In 2001 he joined government service as 20th BCS (health) cadre. In 2011 he completed post-graduation degree (MS) in Neurosurgery from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) .Now he has been working as Professor and Unit Head, Department of Neurosurgery.
He has completed a clinical fellowship in Skull Base and Vascular Neurosurgery from Tokyo Women's Medical University, Japan in 2014. He has obtained Fellowship Diploma in lateral skull base surgery in 2018 from Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, India. He has completed basic and advanced spinal fellowship from AOSpine. He also has completed a fellowship in Scoliosis Surgery from Pune, India in 2018. He has joined many cadaveric training programs locally and abroad.
He has published many scientific journals in local and international journals. Now he has been working as part-time consultant at Green Life Hospital. He performs all types of brain and spinal surgery with special interest in Skull Base, endoscopic skull base, vascular neurosurgery and complex spinal surgery.
