Tussibic 50mg Tablet: Yellow, Barrel-shaped tablet; each sustained release film coated tablet contains Butamirate Citrate INN 50mg
Tussibic Syrup: Orange and Strawberry-flavoured clear syrup; each 5ml syrup contains Butamirate Citrate INN 7.5mg
Indication
Tussibic (Butamirate citrate) is indicated in symptomatic treatment of dry cough of various etiologies: suppression of cough in the pre-and post operative period, bronchoscopy & whooping cough.
Dosage and Administration
Tablet-
Adolescents over 12 years old: 1-2 tablet daily
Adults: 2-3 tablets daily
Syrup-
Children 3-6 years: 5ml 3 times daily
Children 6-12 years: 10ml 3 times daily
Adolescents: 15ml 3 times daily
Adults: 15ml 4 times daily
Butamirate citrate is taken orally before meals. When taking syrup, patient should use a measuring spoon (supplied). The measuring spoon should be washed and dried after each use.
Contra-indications, warnings etc.
Contra-indications: Butamirate citrate is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivities to any component of the formulation.
Use in pregnancy and lactations:
There were no controlled clinical studies in pregnant women. In this regard, butamirate citrate should not be used in the first trimester of pregnancy. In II and III trimesters, the use of butamirate citrate is possible in view of the benefits to the mother and the potential risk to the fetus. Given the lack of data on the isolation of butramate with breast milk, the appointment of the drug during lactation is not recommended. In studies conducted on animals, there was no undesirable effect on the fetus.
