What is Sofovir-C?
Sofovir -C is the preparation of sofosbuvir used with other antiviral medicines to treat chronic hepatitis C infection in adults. Sofosbuvir is a breakthrough medicine that works directly against the Hepatitis C virus to keep it from multiplying inside the body.

What is the indication of Sofovir-C?
Sofosbuvir is indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C (CHC) infection in subjects with HCV genotype 1, 2, 3 or 4 infection, including those with hepatocellular carcinoma meeting Milan criteria (awaiting liver transplantation) and those with HCV/HIV-1 co-infection.

What are the dosage & administration of Sofovir-C?

One 400 mg tablet taken once daily with or without food.
It should be used in combination with ribavirin or in combination with pegylated interferon and ribavirin for the treatment of CHC. Recommended combination therapy

Treatment Duration
Patients with genotype 1 or 4 CHC Sofovir-C + peginterferon alfa + ribavirin 12 weeks
Patients with genotype 2 CHC Sofovir-C + ribavirin 12 weeks
Patients with genotype 3 CHC Sofovir-C + ribavirin 24 weeks


What are the contraindications of Sofovir-C?
When Sofovir-C is used in combination with ribavirin or peginterferon alfa/ribavirin, the contraindications applicable to those agents are applicable to combination therapies.
Sofovir-C combination treatment with ribavirin or peginterferon alfa/ribavirin is contraindicated in women who are pregnant or may become pregnant and men whose female partners are pregnant because of the risks for birth defects and fetal death associated with ribavirin

What are the adverse effects of Sofovir-C?
The most common adverse events observed with Sofovir-C in combination with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin were fatigue, headache, nausea, insomnia and anemia.

How supplied / storage of Sofovir-C?
Sofovir-C tablets are yellow, capsule-shaped, film-coated tablets containing 400 mg sofosbuvir. Each bottle contains 14 tablets, a silica gel desiccant, and is closed with a child-resistant closure.

Store at a cool & dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
