Salmolin
USES Salbutamol Rotacaps are particularly suitable for the relief of asthma symptoms. It is valuable as relief medication in mild, moderate and severe asthma. COMPOSITION Salmolin-200 : Each capsule contains Salbutamol BP 200 mcg (as Sulphate). DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION The capsules are intended for use with Rotahaler device. While using with the Rotahaler device, the capsule will be pierced and powder will be released on the screen of the device that is to be inhaled by the patient. Adult : 200-400 mcg ( one to two rotacaps) daily; for persistant symptoms up to 3-4 times daily. Child : 200 mcg ( one rotacap) daily Prophylaxis in exercise-induced bronchospasm Adult : 400 mcg ( two rotacaps) daily Child : 200 mcg ( one rotacap) daily OR AS DIRECTED BY THE PHYSICIAN SIDE-EFFECTS Fine tremor of skeletal muscle occurs in some patients, usually the hands are most obviously affected. This effect is not dose related. Sometimes stimulation may be exposed to the action of salbutamol on skeletal muscle which is not due to direct CNS stimulation. Headaches have occasionally been reported. Hoarseness of mouth and throat irritation may occur. Hyper-sensitivity reactions including angio-edema, urticaria, bronchospasm, hypotension, muscle cramps, tachy-cardia have been reported very rarely. CONTRAINDICATIONS Inhaled Salbutamol is not appropriate for managing premature labour. It should not be used for threatened abortion. Salbutamol Rotacaps are contraindicated to patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components or to the patients using b-blocking drugs. PRECAUTIONS Unnecessary administration of the drugs during the first trimester of pregnancy should be avoided. Caution is advised to patients suffering from thyrotoxicosis. A capsule should only be inserted into the rotahaler device immediately prior to use. It may be helpful to rinse out the mouth with water immediately after inhalation. Use in pregnancy and lactation During pregnancy the drug should be administered only if the expected benefit to the mother is greater than any possible risk to the fetus. As Salbutamol is probably secreted in breast milk, its use in nursing mother requires careful consideration. PRESENTATION Each plastic pot contains 30 capsules and each box contains 10 x 10 capsules in blister strip for use with rotahaler device. PHARMACEUTICAL PRECAUTIONS Keep all medicines out of reach of children. Store in a cool and dry place protected from light. Rotacap is to be used through Rotahaler only. Rotacap is not to be swallowed. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Keep the container tightly closed. Insert the Rotacap in the Rotahaler just prior to use, as Rotacap exposed to moisture may not be pierced easily.
