Presentation
Flamex®200mg Tablets: White, round, film coated tablets imprinted with ‘FLAMEX 200’. Each tablet contains Ibuprofen BP 200mg.Flamex®400mg Tablets: White, oblong, film coated tablets imprinted with ‘FLAMEX 400’. Each tablet contains Ibuprofen BP 400mg.Flamex®Suspension: A light pink coloured, pineapple-flavoured suspension. Each 5ml contains Ibuprofen BP 100mg.

Indications and Uses
Flamex®is usedfor its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect in thetreatment of rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis and other non-rheumatic conditions, such as frozen shoulder (Capsulitis), bursitis, tendonitis, tenosynovitis and low back pain. Flamex®is indicated in the relief ofmild to moderate pain such as dysmenorrhoea, dental and post-operative pain and in the relief of migraine.


Dosage and Administration
Adults :The recommended dosage of Flamex®is 1200 mg to 1800mg daily individed doses. Some patients can be maintainedon a daily dose of 600 to 1200 mg. In severe or acute conditions the dosage may be increased until the acute phase is brought under control. However, the total daily dosage should not exceed 2400 mg in divided doses.Children:The daily dosage of Flamex® is 20 mg per kg of body-weight in divided doses. In juvenile rheumatoid arthritis upto 40 mg per kg of body-weight daily in divided doses may be given. In children weighing less than 30 kg the total daily dose should not exceed 500 mg.Elderly:No special dosage modification is required for elderly patients unless there is an impairment of renal or hepatic function. In case of such impairment, the dosage should be assessed individually by the physician.

Use in pregnancy & lactation
Although no teratogenic effects have been demonstrated in animal experiments, the use of lbuprofen during pregnancy should, if possible, be avoided. ln the limited studies so far available, Ibuprofen appears in the breast milk in very low concentration and is unlikely to affect the breast-fed infant adversely.

Side-effects
The side-effects of lbuprofen may include dyspepsia, gastro-intestinal intolerance and bleeding and skin rashes of various types. Less frequently, thrombocytopenia has occurred.

Contraindications
lbuprofen is contra-indicated in patients with ahistory ofpeptic ulceration. Bronchospasm may be precipitated inpatients suffering from or with a previous history of bronchial asthma.lbuprofen should not be given to patients in whom aspirin and othernon-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs induce the symptoms of asthma,rhinitis or urticaria.

Overdosage
Incase of overdosage, gastric lavage and' if necessary, correction of serum electrolytes have been recommended. There is no specific antidote lo lbuprofen.

Drug interactions
ln therapeutic doses there is no evidence of significant interactions with other commonly used drugs. However, caution should be exercised in patients receiving oral anticoagulants and thiazide diuretics.
