Presentation
Myoxant-50 tablet : Pink, barrel shaped tablet; each film coated tablet contains
Tolperisone Hydrochloride INN 50mg.

Indications
Myoxant tablet is indicated for the treatment of low back pain syndrome, painful reflex
muscle spasm, post-cerebral stroke spasticity, neurolathyrism, trapezitis, rehabilitation
programmes and periarthritis.

Dosage and administrations
The usually recommended dose of Tolperisone Hydrochloride in adults is 50mg (one
Myoxant-50 tablet) given three times a day (i.e. a daily dose of 150mg) that can be
increased to a maximum daily dose of 600mg if required. In children, the drug is
administered in a daily dose of 5-10mg/kg/day, given in three divided doses. The dose of
the drug should be reduced in the elderly and in patients with hepatic or renal
insufficiency. The dosage of the drug should be maintained until the therapeutic effect is
reached. Afterwards, the dosage of the drug should be reduced gradually.

Contra-indications, Warnings etc.
Contra-indications: Tolperisone Hydrochloride tablet is contra-indicated in patients who
are hypersensitive to any of the ingredient of the formulation. Tolperisone Hydrochloride
tablet is contra-indicated in patients suffering from myasthenia gravies.
Precautions: If the patient experiences uneasiness, accompanied by dysaesthesias or a
feeling of burning in the extremities, skin excursions or a difficulty in breathing after
ingestion of Tolperisone especially after the first dose of the drug, the treatment should
be stopped immediately as it could be a sign of hypersensitivity. Patients on drug should
be advised to observe caution while driving or operating any machinery since dizziness
has been reported by some patients.
Drug Interactions: No drug interactions of Tolperisone Hydrochloride have been reported
with the concomitant intake of benzodiazepines, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
(NSAIDs), analgesics and alcohol.
Pediatric Use: Tolperisone Hydrochloride should not be used in case of children under 1
year of age.

Use in pregnancy and lactation:
Tolperisone Hydrochloride should not be used in
pregnancy and during breast-feeding. Breast-feeding should be stopped during the
treatment period.
Side-effects: Tolperisone Hydrochloride may cause excessive sweating, urticaria or
erythema. Also Tolperisone Hydrochloride may lead to GI upset with abdominal pain,
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence or dryness of mouth. Various clinical studies with
Tolperisone revealed the drug to be well-tolerated and with low incidence of adverse
effects. Nevertheless, few adverse effects were observed in patients, even though selflimited
included muscle pain, generalized body weakness, fatigue and dizziness.

Pharmaceutical precautions
Should be stored in a cool and dry place, protected from light.
